The Farley blog

Not only do we love what we do, we also love to talk about it! Here are some of the news, views and reviews that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves.

Emerald, sage, Verdigris, malachite, jade, chartreuse…. whatever you call it, Green is most definitely the colour to be.

Here at Farley HQ we always try to minimise our impact on the environment and we’re excited to announce another big step, the installation of our new electric vehicle charger. Clients with electric vehicles can now charge their cars in our main car park whilst propping, meaning charging your vehicle doesn’t have to impact your day and you can get on safe in the knowledge your car will be fully charged and ready to go when you are. The charger is administered via the Charge Point app and is very simple to use. If you’d like any more information or instructions on how to get going when you ‘fill up’ for the first time, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Familiar faces in the Spiller collection

Our Spiller collection contains thousands of beautiful old master paintings, prints, watercolours and sculptures amongst many other items. Whilst rummaging through the racks you will also spot some familiar faces that are regularly called upon for their big screen debut.

Farley Turns 60!!!

Celebrating the official start of Farley prop hire, February 1962

In a picture framer in Lambs Conduit Street 1961, a chance encounter with an eminent film designer, who asked ‘would you like to hire the picture in the window for a film’, set things in motion and shortly after, The House of Farley was born.

The *belated* Joe Farley Awards 2020/2021 : Congratulations to winners Nivitha Muralikrishna and Grace Shepherd

Joe Farley Award 2020 and 2021 winners

Supporting emerging talent is something that we’re very passionate about and have been championing for almost thirty years, so we weren’t going to let a ‘little’ thing like the ongoing pandemic get in the way of our annual award for the first year Production Design students at the National Film and Television School. Some changes to the usual format had to be made of course but we’re very happy to announce that we have been able to award the 2020 and 2021 winners of the Joe Farley Award. Huge congratulations go to the 2021 winner Nivitha Muralikrishna for her interpretations of Erin Morgenstern’s ‘Night Circus’ and the 2020 winner, Grace Shepherd for ‘Invisible Cities’.

Christmas come early: New stock added to the collection

Find out more about the beautiful new seating, lighting and objet that have been added to the collection in the last couple of weeks. We found the set of eight English, William and Mary dining chairs with festive tartan upholstery in a Northamptonshire manor house and thought they’d be a great addition. One of our favourite pieces is the sweet French bar/drinks station, perfect for the party season! Our lamp obsession continues with some interesting styles to compliment our existing collection, especially the delicate modern marble shaded lamps which are achingly stylish. If you’d like any more information about any of the new stock items listed here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The 2017 British Film Designers Guild Awards, in pictures.

British Film Designers Guild award 2017

We left this year’s British Designers Guild Awards with our feet aching from dancing, our hands sore from clapping and our heads preparing to throb in the morning, but what a fab night it was!
Pinewood heaved under the weight of film design talent as the great and the good were honoured at the 2017 BFDG Awards held at Heatherden Hall, Pinewood Studios on Saturday the 13th of January 2018.
