Hiring original antiques to film, television and media industries is the core of our business and sadly it is a fact of life that in our business things are going to get damaged, worn and knocked about. And while we can’t afford to be precious about everything we hire, we put a very high priority on conserving and preserving the intrinsic value of our stock. We have spent many years building up our state-of-the-art workshop which is home to a small team of specialist and experienced craftsmen and conservators. Their skills range from French polishing, carving, gilding, cabinet making and upholstery to silver and glass repair, art restoration, iron and marble work.
This range of skills is regularly put to good use repairing and restoring items that have been hired and returned in less than perfect condition. We also undertake some client modifications, special action or hero prop requests and the construction of replicas. If you have a specialist prop request, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements.
As well as restoring and conserving our own extensive collections, the workshop also regularly take on outside work from people who want a beloved piece of antique furniture or artwork restored to its original glory by experienced craftsmen.
One of the benefits of having an in house team with a range of skills between them, is that a piece that requires work on several different elements can all be done under one roof.
