Fresh off the back of the pink juggernaut that is Barbie, Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer kindly took time out from their hectic schedules to join Mark at this year’s judging of the Joe Farley Award at the National Film and TV School in Beaconsfield.
Supporting emerging talent is something that we’re very passionate about and have been championing for almost thirty years, so we weren’t going to let a ‘little’ thing like the ongoing pandemic get in the way of our annual award for the first year Production Design students at the National Film and Television School. Some changes to the usual format had to be made of course but we’re very happy to announce that we have been able to award the 2020 and 2021 winners of the Joe Farley Award. Huge congratulations go to the 2021 winner Nivitha Muralikrishna for her interpretations of Erin Morgenstern’s ‘Night Circus’ and the 2020 winner, Grace Shepherd for ‘Invisible Cities’.
Another year and another batch of eight hopeful Production Design students at the NFTS readied themselves to present their work to Mark and his guest judge.
We’re already storming through 2019 and though last year seems like a distant memory, the Production Design students, and their work for the Joe Farley Award, are still vivid in our minds.
And the winner is…..
Another year and another class of talented Production Design students are making their mark at the National Film and TV School and Francesca and I had the very great pleasure in meeting them last week at the annual Joe Farley Award judging. After only five months on the course, the first year students begin the ten week fantasy project that is submitted for judging. It’s hard to believe that some of them are completely new to technical drawings, drafting and model making as the work is of such a high standard. We are always suitably impressed and this year was no exception, in fact, we think the standard is getting better each year.
We had this video made as a little documentary about us. It ended up being more about the props themselves. This is a 3 minute trailer for the real thing, which is a half hour long.
